Notes Attestation Papers:
- Elmer Kenny was described on his Attestation Papers as 5' 7", weighing 160 lbs. He had a dark complexion, hazel eyes and black hair. He lists his occupation as labourer and his mother Mrs. Laura Jane Kenney as next of kin. He signed his name Elmer Kenney. His education level was Grade 8 Public School. His last place of employment was at Nobel, ON making explosives for over a year.
WWII service:
- Apr 6, 1943 was taken on strength #2 District Depot CA; Unit was CAC R Wing #5 Coy at Toronto.
May 1, 1943 transferred to Brampton
July 2, 1943 went to Camp Borden where he did driver training earning Qualified Dvr I/C Class II (wheeled) and lated Qualified Dvr. Mechanic Group C (M.V.D.M.). He qualified Mtr Mech "B" on Jul 24, 1944.
He disembarked on Aug 10, 1944 in the UK and qualified DVR i/c Tank Class III on Sep 21, 1944; Qual Dvr Mech Tk "C" on Oct 25, 1944. In December 1944, upon transfer which later saw him disembark in Italy on Dec 24, 1924, his rank was changed to Pte. Kenney.
Disembarked in France on Feb 21, 1945
Killed in action Apr 17, 1945.
Tpr. Kenny was eligible for the 1939-45 Star; Italy Star; France & Germany Star; War Medal; and C.V.S.M. & Clasp. His mother was entitle to the Memorial Cross.
