Basic training at Cornwall then Camp Borden and posted to 1st Battalion Midland Regiment, Canadian Army 1939-45 Star France & Germany Star, War Medal; CVSM & Clasp sustained an injury to his left eye on the firing range on Nov 27, 1943. admited to hospital sep 18, 1944 in Comox, B.C. embarked for overseas Dec 19, 1944 Deplained N W Europe Feb 12, 1945 buried at Wichmend, approx 5 miles SE of Zutphen, Holland reburied at Holten Attestation Papers: age 18; height 5' 10"; weight 139 lbs.; fair complexion and brown eyes and brown hair labourer with Grade 9 education and one month grade 10. left because father was sick and he had to go to work. Farmed for about one year and then machine operator in box factory, Pembroke Shook Mills for about one year prior to enlisting.
