Notes - Renfrew Mercury dec 20 1889 Cobden News Dec 9 1889 Since writing the above, I have said good night for the last time to a you ng friend, Steevie McCallum, son of Mr George McCallum, who died this afte rnoon of inflamation of the bowels. He was growing to be a fine young ma n, a fact which, whilst it perhaps helps his friends to be reconciled to h is departure, also makes it the more natural to grieve for him. He met de ath calmly, being conscious and giving last messages to his sorrowing frie nds up almost to the moment of his death. He will be buried on Wednesd ay at Portage du Fort. His frineds and especially his mother have the hea rtfelt sympathy of the entire community; and they are also upheld by the f act that htey are assured it was well with his soul. His death is anoth er reminder to the young of the necessity of being always ready, seeing th at " in such an hour as ye htink not the Son of Man cometh"
