PEMBROKE - Final tribute was paid to John Robertson McKay Shields, a life-long resident of the Ottawa district, at his funeral held at the Malcolm and Deavitt Funeral Home here.
He died following a brief illness at the age of 48. Mr. Shields was well known in business, church and service club affairs in Levack.
Rev. R.K. Earls conducted the service. Interment was in Cobden cemetery.
Born at Snake River, Ont., son of Mrs. Hugh Shields and the late Mr. Shields, he was educated at Cobden and Renfrew. He later served with the Bank of Nova Scotia at branches in Wellington, Carp and Ottawa, and in Montreal.
Mr. Shields became associated in business with his brother Douglas at Levack two years ago. He was treasurer of St. John's United Church, Levack, and was also a member of the Lions Club.
He leaves in addition to his mother who is residing in Westmeath Township, his wife the former Estelle Norma Livingston, a daughter Miss Mary Shields, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Robert E. Smith and Mrs. Charles Knott, both of Pembroke; and a brother Douglas, Levack.
