It was with deeply saddened hearts that the large congregation in Grace Me thodist church, Cobden, sang these words during the funeral service of M rs Wilson Blackwell of Wolftown last Sat aft. Although only ill for a sho rt period of four weeks, her death was a great shcock to everyone. Duri ng the short illness her constitution orapidly weakened and in spite of a ll that kind hands could do she passed away at her home on Thursday, Mar ch 13th. The late Mrs Wilson Blackwell, whose maiden name was Emily McInt yre, was born in Douglas forty-nine years ago and was a dau of late Mr a nd Mrs Sam McIntyre. In that place she spent her girlhood days and abt tw enty-five years ago she became the wife of Wilson Blackwell and they resid ed on a farm in Bromley twp Their home was known by all for its air ofki nd hospitality and ever pleasing welcome which greeted all callers. Decea sed was a woman highly esteemed by a host of friends and during her ilne ss she bore her suffering, with Christian fortitude. She was a loving a nd faithful wife and a tender mother. Althoug she will be sadly missed t he life she lived in her home and wherever she went was such as to lea ve an influence that will be as a guiding voice. Her kind and sympathet ic disposition won for her the highest respect and admiration. She w as an ardent sympathizer in church work and was a member of the Presbyteri an church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sorrowing husband and a fami ly of four : Sam late of San Francisco but now at home; Bernice, Kenne th and Marjorie all at home. Sam was not able to reach home before she pa ssed away but arrived for the funeral. Deceased is also survived by four b rothers and four sisters namely: Mrs David Stewart, Renfrew, Mrs Nina? Ro ss, Eganville, Mrs Martha McLaren?, Los Angelos; Miss Bell? McIntyre Nor th Dakota; Herbert? J?, Cleveland; Dan?? at Johannesburg, South Africa; S am at North Dakota; and James at Hamilton. The funeral service was he ld in Grace Methodist Church on Sat Aft Mar 15th and was conducted by h er pastor Rev A donaldson, assisted by rev E D Mitchell. The church was p acked as people of all classes paid thier last tribute to one so deeply lo ved. The hymns sung during the service were: For ever with the Lord; Near er My God in Thee; and Rock of aGes. Mrs W A Dack sang an appropriate sol o: No Night There. and the choir sang a selection. Rev Mr Donaldson preac hed an impressive serman .... (unable to make out the remainder includi ng pallbearers names.)
