William Edwin Black, son of Thomas Edwin Black and Maria Wilson, was born on 7 Mar 1913 in Ross Twp., killed in action on 3 Sep 1944 in the Mediterranean Theatre of War, Italy aged 31, and was buried in Ancona War Cemetery, Ancona, Provincia di Ancona, Marche, Italy. Pte. Black served in the Western Ontario Regiment, Royal Canadian Regiment, Canadian Army, Service Number A106773. He was the brother of Violet Whitton, Hilly Rankin, Vera Eady, Iris Wagner and Hugh Black.
