Notes Married:
- Renfrew Mercury May 25 1894 The residence of Mr and Mrs Samuel Rankin of Queen's Line, Ross, was the s cene of one of those exquisitely happy events, at which the world halts f or a moment to view and admire. Reference is made to the marriage of Mi ss Harriett A Rankin to Mr Wm Falls of Carp. The ceremony was ably perfor med by Rev J Ferguson, of Cobden, in the presence of a number of the immed iate friends of the bride and groom. The duties of the bridesmaid were gr acefully performed by Miss Rachel Rankin, teacher, of Dacr; while the gro om was ably assisted through the trying ordeal by Mr W J Nesbitt, evangeli st, of Fallowfield, ON. The bride was prettily attired in brown crepon, a rtistically made to suit the occasion. while her sister attendant was tas tefully dressed in light fawn cashmere. The ceremony being ended, the ma ny friends tendered their good wishes by actions which spake louder than w ords- a favoured few whose courage failed not, following the good exampl ed so gracefully set by the groom. The wedding party was then treat ed to a service of song, the central figures being Miss rachel Rankin, tea cher of Cobden whose musical talents, both vocal and instrumental, requi re no comments here, and Mr W J Nesbitt, the widely known tenor singer, w ho was assisted by Revs Horner, Scobie and otheres in their successful eva ngelistic work. In reference tothe wedding supper, too much cannot be sai d, no good thing being lacking, and this being the season of apple blosso ms, lilacs and May flowers, the table was beautifully adorned. special cr edit is due to Miss Jessie Headrick, of Queen's Line, and Miss Lizzie M Ra nkin, sister of the bride who superintended the wedding supper and so ab ly did their part in the attention and kindness shown to the wedding guest s. The bride was the recipient of many valuable and useful presents whi ch showed the estimation in which the young lady was held. Chief among t he gifts we made mention of a beautiful bibe presented by Mr walter G McAl ister on which was the follwoing appropriate inscription: "I have not wri tten until you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, a nd that no lie is of the truth" Mr and Mrs Falls are consecrated worke rs in the vineyard of the Lord, and all join in wishing them a joyous a nd useful life in the Master's service. The bride and groom, accompani ed by the bridesmaid and groomsman, took the eastbound train at Haley's (w hither they were accompanied by the young people of the party) for their f uture home in Carp.
