    Pte. John Alexander Robertson of Cobden was a labourer who enlisted Mar 1, 1915 at age 28 and died 2 Sep 1918 in France, age 31. In August of 1917 he was admitted to hospital in London with a gunshot wound to his face and gas poisoning after which he returned to duty. He was the son of John Robertson and Elizabeth Wood (it is not known if they came to Canada). He was born in Glasgow, Scotland and two of his sisters also came to this area. Elizabeth m. Clifton O?Brien of Westmeath Twp., and Margaret m. Hugh Shields also of Westmeath Twp. Pte. Robertson was serving with the 87th Canadian Battalion when killed in action.
