Pte. Herbert Joseph Tuffy of Cobden was in general business when he enlisted January 1918 at age 32, and died October 26, 1918, age 32. He contacted spanish influenza on troop train and died in the Edmonton Isolation Hospital. Pte. Tuffy was the son of Edward Tuffy and Ellen Shields. Edward was a businessman and community builder in Cobden. Pte. Tuffy served with the 259th Battalion Canadian Infantry.
