A very pretty wedding took place on Wednesday afternoon, June 29 th at the residence of Mr James Davidson, Zion Line, Westmeath when his el dest daughter, Miss Frances, was united in marriage to Mr Malcolm MacLar en of Ross. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. McNabb, of Beachbu rg in the presence of a large number of immediate relatives and neighbo rs of both parties. The bride was assisted by Miss Eliza MacLaren, whi le the groom was supported by Mr John Davidson. The bride was charming ly attired in white cashmere with chiffon and allusion trimmings while t he bridesmaid was becomingly dressed in cream brocaded luster with chiff on trimmings. After the ceremony was performed all set down to an elabora te wedding feast after which the happy couple accompanied by the young fol ks drove to Mr.& Mrs MacLaren's future home in Ross, where a very enjoyab le evening was spent. The bride was the recipient of a large number of be autiful, costly and useful presents showing the esteem in which the you ng lady is held. We heartily join in wishing the couple a long,happy a nd prosperous life together.


Malcolm appears to have officially changed his surname from McLaren to Mac Laren at some point. All of this descendents use that spelling.

The following is his obituary: On Wednesday,A.M. August 3rd. at his home on Cobden Road, death ca me to Mr Malcolm MacLaren. Deceased had been failing health for some yea rs but had been able to attend to his business till this spring when he w as confined to his room. He gradually grew weaker and despite all that m edical skill and loving care could do, he passed peace fully away. Deceas ed was born in 1870 on the second line ,Township of McNab, and while still a boy he with his f amily moved to the Township of Ross. He was a man of of sterling characte r. His word was as good as his bond and he was highly respected by all w ho knew him. In 1898 he married Miss Frances Davidson and took up residence on the farm where he has since resided. His wife survives hi m, also one son Gordon Campbell, and three daughters, Mrs A.N.Coughl an of Kinburn, Miss Gladys and Miss Harriet at home. He was a Presbyteri an till union took place and he was a consistent member of the churc h. He was a member of Cobden Lodge, A.F.& A.M.,and of L.O.L. NO 552 Fores ters Falls. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon, interment was ma de in the family plot in Cobden Cemetery. Rev.Wm. Higgs and Rev R. McNa bb officiating at the religious ceremony at the house and the grave and t he brethren of the Masonic Order performed the last rites for their depart ed brother at the house and grave. The funeral cortege was the largest s een in years, with friends from Toronto, Arnprior, Lochwinnoch, Goshen, Re nfrew, Admaston, Bromley, Cobden, Snake River, Meath, Beachburg and surrou nding Communities, showing the esteem in which he was held. The floral of ferings were: pillow from the the family; Wreaths from brothers and siste r, A.F.&A.M.,LOL No 552, Women's Missionary Society, Women's Institute, Yo ung People's Society; Sprays Mrs W.J.Childerose, Mrs M McWade, Mrs S.Simps on; cut flowers from a number of friends. The greatest sympathy is extend ed to the bereaved family.
