1261 John Bulmer died after being kicked by a horse on the Bulmer homestead. H is middle name, Cartman, was in memory of a neighboring Cartman family w ho were quite prominent in the area and may have been friends of the Bulme rs from back in England. Robert Cartman (1820-1883) is buried in the Ross Cemetery and his gravesto ne states that he is a native of Yorkshire. The 1861 census shows two Car tman families in Ross Township, those of Robert and John. I found the marriage of John Cartman to Hannah Coffer on 4 November 18 59 in Ross Township and it gave his parents as John Cartman and Elizabe th Bulmer. She is likely the sister of Edward Bulmer Sr. I have not fou nd a record of John and Elizabeth in Canada. 1266 JOHN LYALL ANDERSON Andy
June 11, 1921 - August 4, 2002
It is with great sorrow that the family of John Lyall Anderson Andy announce his passing after a lenghty illness at Extendicare on Sunday, August 4, 2002. Andy was born on June 11, 1921, in Loxley, ON. to Mary and John Anderson. His sister Ora Gardiner, brothers Lindsay and Ivan predeceased Andy. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years Bette Tina Newton Anderson and their daughter Lynda of Logan Lake, B.C., brother Allan of Bowmanville, ON. and two nieces and two nephews. Andy was the owner of Andys Body Shop in King Kirkland and worked for Teck Motors and GM City. He was the type of person that loved the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, golf and boating and in his quiet time he could be found watching a movie or painting with water colour. Andy was proud of the numerous trailers, boats and snow machines that he designed and built, but his pride and joy was the houseboat that he built. A service celebrating Andys life will be held in the Teck - Hughes Chapel of the Monette & French Funeral Home on Thursday, August 8, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Peter Dempsey officiating. Memorial donations in Andys memory may be made to the Alzheimers Society Suite 202-1200 Bay St. Torongo, ON. M5R 2A5 or to the Canadian Cancer Society 38 Government Rd. W., Kirkland Lake, On. P2N 3E2.

1290 Listed in British Home Children Registry. b. 1900 England
Sending organization: Catholic
Sailed on Corsican from Liverpool to Quebec arriving Apr 30, 1911, age 11.
Frank Whitford came to Canada c1911 from England with a group of British Home Children. I don't know where he was placed. He enlisted into the army at age 16. His residence was listed as North Bay at that time and next of kin was an Aunt Annie Honor in London, ENG. Interestingly, the British 1901 Census shows him at age 2 living with a nurse Annie Honor. She had 5 children from age 10 to 3 1/2 living in her household - all different surnames and they're relationship to head of household was listed as nurse child.
In 1921 census he is living with Frank & Margaret (Kennelly) Sheedy of Bromley Twp., and listed as helper. His cause of death is suicide as result of premature dementia. It is unknown what he endured as a child or in the war and sad that his young life came to such an end.
