Notes - The Andrew Devine (who married Mary Kenny) of our common interests, from the information in the book is one of a larger family all coming from Templehouse, Sligo from the 1840's onward. His siblings include Felix (m Ann French),Matthew (who lived in Renfrew for a while but moved on to Vineland N.J. USA and had a son Andrew also); Patrick (never married ); John (m: Ellen,Helan,or Elenor ?) and had no children; and a sister Mary (m:?Moran).

On Monday morning, Mar 1 st the last older generation of Devines - pionee rs in the settlement of this section-quietly passed away to rest. Fo ma ny years Mr Adnrew Devine was a resident of Renfrew, but for the last f ew years he and Mrs. Devine, have been living with their son Rev Felix Dev ine, at Osceola, and it was there that the end came. An absess form ed in his breast some months ago, in such a position that the doctor advis ed against an operation. The deceased was born in Co. Sligo, Ireland in 1 815; and came to Canada in 1847. With his brothers Felix, Patrickl, Jo hn and Matthew, he became one of the pioneers of this district living f or years on a farm near the Pinnacle. He took no active part in politic a ffairs, and though consequently not quite so well known as his younger bro thers, enjoyed the same measure of high respect from those who did know hi m. Last summer he and Mrs Devine celebrated their golden wedding . The d eceased leaves a widow and nine children - John, Matthew and Patrick of Re nfrew; Rev Felix of Osceola; and Andrew of Ottawa; Mary Ann of Osceola; M rs T W McGarry of Renfrew; and two other daughters in religious orders: S isters Victoria and Chresentia. The remainswere brought to Renfrew for in terment besides brothers John, Felix, and Patrick; sympathizing friends es corting them to the residence of Mr M devine on Tuesday afternoon. and th ence to the church of st. Francis Xavier, where services was held, and th en to the R.C. Cemetery on Wednesday morning.
