Renfrew Mercury Cobden News Nov 3 1890 Mr edwards Gibson, one of our municipal councillors for Ross Twp was on F riday laid to rest in teh Presbyterian cemetery, Beachburg, after a painfu lillness of serveral months, borne with true Chrisitan patience. A wid ow who tended him with the tenderest devotion during his illness and a fam ily of seven children, moun sincerely the loss of kind husband and affecti onate father; consoled though they be by the knowledge that for husband a nd father "to die was gain" Asleep in Jesus, oh, how sweet To be for such a slumber meet, With holy confidence to sing That death hath lost its venomed sting. Asleep in Jesus, far from thee Thy kindred and their graves may be; But thine is still a blessed sleep From which none ever wakes to weep The funeral sermon was preached by Rev Mr Blakely, on Sunday aft from t eh words, To die is gain, and was a beautiful and instructive showing of t he blessings, mental and spiritual, that are gained at the moment of disso lution, and thelessons to be learned therefrom. The widow and family, sev eral of them in far away Dakota and Manitoba, have the sympathy of all w ho knkew Mr Gibson, in their sad bereavement.
