!NOTE: A ISABELLA BRYSON, WIFE OF ALEXANDER THOMSON 1801-1872 IS ALSO BURIED IN ROSS CEM., AND WAS A NATIVE OF PAISLEY SCOTLAND In the family information handed down to me Agnes Bryson is said to be La dy Bryson but she fell in love and married the butler, James Black. In my research with the LDS IGI, I have found quite good information on Ag nes Bryson and James Black who were born and raised in the parish of Old K ilpatrick, Scotland (near Glascow). The IGI indicates that Agnes was prob ably the illegitimate daughter of James Bryson. Also the IGI indicates th at Agnes was about 6 months pregnant when she got married to James Blac k. Yes definitely the same picture. Did you know that the family castle(Bul mer) in England was
only held until 1537. Then the family picked the wrong side and lost t he castle, lands and their
lives. Sir John was hung and his wife Lady Margaret was burned at the st ake! I quess it pays to
be on the winning side back then for sure. After the loss of lands the B ulmers became farmers
in Yorkshire before coming to Canada. Ed Bulmer 1787-1861 and his wife M argaret Askan
1797-1858 left Thursk in Yorkshire in late 1830's and eventually settl ed in Kerr Line. Margaret
was the first person buried in Ross Presbyterian Cemetery. Their son Edw ard 1831-1910 and
his wife Eliza Jane Elliott 1837-1900 had 7 children one of whom w as my grandfather-Edward
Binns who married Margaret Black. my mother-Vivienne Bulmer-daught er of preceeding
    named.
Agnes Bryson said to be a Lady-eloped with James Black-family coachm an or butler(not sure).
They were both born and raised in parish of Old Kipatrick,Scotland. Agn es was probably an
illegimate daughter of James Bryson. She was 6 months pregnant when s he married James
    Black.
According to family legend Magaret McKay climbed out a window with a f ew clothes and met
William Black at the bridge and went home with him. Margaret was Cathol ic and Wm was
Protestant! William's mother Agnes wouldn't have anything to do with Mar garet or her children.
Some said that John Wm's brother helped Margaret climb out the window a nd had carried notes
for them.Wm Black who was the son of James Black and Agnes Bryson was t he Great
Grandfather of myself. We do not have the mother of Agnes Bryson just fa thers name. Henry
Black married a Mary McQueen who fathered James Black who fathered Wm Bl ack who
    fathered my Grandmother.
It is interesting to see where the names come from.
